Timmy, don't you know it's better never to get caught? |

3.3 grams...personal use. Misdemeaner. He wasn't impaired. A warning would have been sufficient. Linsecum is a bright boy and would have realized the
implications of the fallout with a warning. Why give him the grief? What an asshole of a trooper.

It's been my experience (sorry if I offend anyone with this) that most troopers are assholes.
Seriously? 3.3 grams of pot is about the size of my thumb. Maybe he was headed to 7-11 to load up for all day binge of video gaming and toking. Hey, I just figured out what I'm going to do tomorrow. |

Well, as far as I can tell, the cop just wrote him a citation and let him go. Doesn't sound like much grief.

There goes the Cy Young repeat.
Seriously, what is wrong is wrong and he should have been more careful. After all a DUI does include driving high. So he is fortunate he wasn't under the influence. Anyway, does this mean he will be fined y the league or have to have random testing? I bet his Dad is pissed. |

Speeding and high on pot. Gee all that was missing was the loaded gun. Thank God he wasn't involved in an accident and hurt somebody. Why can't these
millionaire athletes ever learn? What a moron.

Pretty sure Cy Young is voted on before the post-season ends (or begins? Correct me if I'm wrong). This shouldn't have any bearing at all on the Cy
Young award.

Smoking a joint doesn't bother me but getting behind the wheel????

Just because the cop smelled it does not mean he was smoking while driving or even under the influence at all. If the cop can identify a herb smell I'd
assume he'd know how to look in the suspects eyes and get a pretty good idea if he was blazed or not.
From the report he recieve no driving while impared ticket (or what would translate into an arrest Id assume). Mis/Possession. That's it. Not even news worthy. Besides, it was probably Mark Sweeneys anyway....

It's already been said, but 3.3 grammes is something anybody here could afford. It's nothing at all. I do wonder if Timmy could give me some better
quality than I'm used to though.
The Kid's kind of gone up in my estimation. Edited to add; I call that the Art Garfunkel Syndrome. A refuse from a silver phial

I didn't post this because I didn't think it was worth the space at the time. Our last ballgame was the last Thursday night in
September. We sat with my cousin, whose good friend is one of the dugout cameramen. He told us that Timmy is a major stoner and it's common knowledge. I
thought that was kind of sad. Sure, it's not a big deal and that's an entire political discussion I don't want to get into. But, it is currently
illegal and he's a major public figure in a sport that doesn't tolerate "substance abuse" for the most part. He should be more discreet.
I hear he's throwing a New Year's party with Michael Phelps. (jk)

Well if he's a *major stoner* and can still do what he does than dayum. One person's major stoner is anothers recreactional user. Who knows. He's
young, he's good at what he does and on top of his world. I would agree with the discreet part.

I have a slightly different take on this. I could give a shit about Tim being in possession of pot for personal use. In 29 years as a cop I never cited anyone
for personal use UNLESS it was in conjunction with a motor vehicle. If you had an open container of alcohol in a car.......you would be cited. Why should drugs
of ANY kind be any different? The assumption under law is if you have drugs or alcohol in the passenger compartment of the car......you are or will be using
them in the car........and that assumption is correct in 99% of the cases.
I have cleaned up too many very bloody accident scenes in my life to have any sympathy for anyone who has alcohol or drugs of any kind in a motor vehicle. Drugs and alcohol have ZERO business in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. If you don't plan to use it in the car.......PUT IT IN THE TRUNK......period. If you have any intoxicant in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, you deserve anything you get.....and more. Anyone who defends this behavior need to help at a few accident scenes....I guarantee you will change your position. |

One distinction I can make is that it's not a performance-enhancing substance (or maybe with Timmy it is, who knows? The kid is phenomenal whether or not
he's a "major stoner"). But since it's pot, and as illegal drugs go it's probably the most benign of illegal substances, I can give the
kid a break. Plus, we've been through the Michael Phelps thing and I think that weirdly helps Timmy's case.
Yes, it's illegal. No, he was not determined to be under the influence while driving. No, it's not steroids. For me, as long as he pitches the way he does and this doesn't seem to affect him negatively (except for image), I give him a lot of leeway. Perhaps I'm biased. I just wish he would have been smart enough not to get caught with it because he is a major sports figure and I do believe major sports figures have an obligation to be positive role models whether they want that or not. |

I had not heard the lost car incident but you make a good point about the All Star Game. I forgot about that and coupled with this last incident I have a new
attitude about it. He admitted in so many words that he was too hung over to pitch the year before. That is UNACCEPTABLE to me. So I suppose this is arrogance
of the young but hopefully someone is able to get through to him. I have stopped thinking this is funny.

He wasn't "high on pot" and driving. The trooper even noted Tim did not appear to be under the influence. I think this is such a non-issue, and I
can't believe some people are getting worked up over this. He's what, 24 years old? I raised some hell when I was that age, and part of it was simply
because I could. My body thought nothing of playing not one, but two 80 minute rugby matches on a Saturday afternoon and then a full night of bar hopping and
drinking. I shudder at the thought of even attempting that now, just a few months away from turning 40.
Oh, I certainly didn't have anywhere near the money Tim has. Probably a good thing, in many ways. |
