I was hoping for Rudy Jaramillo. I know nothing about Meulens and I feel like I should.
Good move?
Oh, and the article on Rowand is a huge crock of crap.
Fresno Grizzlies hitting coach Hensley Meulens has been named to the same position with the San Francisco Giants, general manager Brian Sabean announced
Monday.
Meulens, who was with the Grizzlies for one year, guided the Giants' Triple-A affiliate to a .275 batting average, which ranked sixth in the Pacific Coast League. The 42-year-old native of Curacao is credited with helping John Bowker win the PCL batting crown with a .342 average, in part due to a more patient approach.
"We are excited to promote someone of Hensley's baseball background to the big league club," Sabean said in a press release.
"He will be a great asset to the team as we look to improve our run scoring production with both our existing major league hitters as well as the young talent we have coming up from our minor league system."
Meulens replaces Carney Lansford, who was not retained following the 2009 season.
