Buster Posey got his first HR of AFL play last night. An absolute lazer shot opposite field job that clanged off the facing of the party deck in RF. I could be wrong, but I think the ball was still on it's way up when it hit the party deck. Mikey didn't think it was hit high enough to make it out.......but it just kept rising and made it out by plenty. Best off-field power shot of the season so far....LOUD. He also got a single earlier in the game. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a hot steak for him. He starts every new level slowly and then gets red hot. Let's hope the AFL is no different.

Losing is getting VERY old. The Scorpions have not had a winning record over the last several seasons.

I really don't understand the way the manager decides who plays and who sits. A Diamondback player, firstbaseman Brandon Allen, has played every single inning of every game.........and has batted 4th the entire season. The problem? After his base hit yesterday, he RAISED his batting average to .162 with a .243 slugging percentage. Batting 4th? Really? The guy batting 3rd, Domonic Brown is hitting .267 and I think he has missed only 1 game (although he pinch hit in that game). The Scorpions have the top 3 league leaders in AB's even though only 1 of them has a BA of above the .260's. Meanwhile, Thomas Neal and Brandon Crawford have a little over half the number of AB's as Allen and they are batting .325 and .319 respectively (.438 and .450 OBP).

Gee...I wonder why they are losing?

In other news......Posey had another HR in his next game after the one I noted in a prior post.....another off-field job. He is batting only .231. The good news is that is about 40 points higher than it was 3 games ago. More good news (I know Bleacher will like this) he is showing good plate discipline. His OBP is almost 100 points higher at .322.

Joe is having trouble with his control. Yesterday he gave up 3 runs in the first inning (on only 2 hits) and then pitched 3 more scoreless innings. He still has plenty of "stuff" he just isn't controlling it. When he puts it where he wants it......this league can't hit him.

All 3 of our position players played yesterday, in the 4-5-6 positions in the batting order. Not a good day as they went a combined 1 for 10 with 2 walks. Brandon Allen finally got a day off and our guy, Thomas Neal played 1B. I didn't know he had ever played 1B. He did a real good job defensively including a diving stop of a ball hit down the line that should have been at least a double (to add to the difficulty he was playing in front of the bag). He handled about 10 chances flawlessly....no scoops required though. From only 1 day's evidence, he is much better defensively than our regular firstbaseman (Allen).
