JT Snow, who's playing time has been reduced to between never and never, is asking the Red Sox for a trade. I don't think it is bitterness as much as there is literally no use for him on the team. Youkilis and Lowell are both doing a fantastic job, both offensively and defensively.
Snow, meanwhile, has played in just five games this month, with only two at-bats. Choi is down in AAA, so the Red Sox wouldn't even miss Snow (and may even choose to leave Choi in AAA because sitting him on the bench day in and day out wouldn't be helping his development at all). Snow was insurance against Youkilis failing and because all expectations were he'd be marginal, at best, defensively.
Thoughts? I would expect that Chicago and Anaheim would take a look at him, teams which would probably make Snow happy. I also think maybe the Pirates would be interested, which undoubtedly would make any player miserable. Obviously the Giants can't use him with Niekro and Sweeney on the roster (and I don't think either of them are going anywhere). I am not intimately familiar with the first base landscape out there, so perhaps others would be kind enough to muse about a good fit?
