This strikes me as a bizarre suggestion, but I'm going to throw it out anyway for you guys to rip apart
It seems fairly obvious to me from watching the last two games that the biggest problem the Giants have offensively is filling the 3 hole.
There's decent speed at the top with any two of Winn, Lewis and (when healthy again) Roberts, but there seems to be a marked reluctance to use it, with little faith in the 3-hitter (whether Lewis last night, Aurilia in general or, particularly, Feliz tonight) to avoid striking out and forcing an IBB to Bonds.
What the Giants need in a 3 hitter, I think, is a good clutch hitter who can take advantage of pitchers' fear of walking the guy in front of Bonds, and (in the event of the top two making outs) a good 2-out hitter who can prolong innings to get Barry to bat with a man on; but it needs to be a hitter without speed who won't ever even be tempted to occasionally stretch a single into a double.
Ladies and gentlemen, batting third, the catcher, number 1, Bengie Molina.
