I have a few thoughts on the subject. I am not so sure that the Rangers would make the trade for Kazmir. I am going to have to hear more that some idle ESPN speculation before I totally buy that one. Even if the Rangers were willing to take Kazmir, I have to believe that Kazmir is more highly regarded than any of our pitching prospects, and that someone like Mohr would not be enough to bridge that gap between one of our prospects and Kazmir.
Lastly, I am not sure what you were suggesting with your last statement about Soriano's new contract, and Barry being ready to retire. I will say this much, Soriano is NOT the type of guy I would want to build a team around and give a big contract. He hits for good power, and he has some speed, but he is a butcher in the field, and he doesn't get on base enough. Add the fact that he was just found to be 28 rather than 26, and I don't think that we can expect a whole lot more than what he has shown already. This is not to say that I think he is a bad player, just not worth a big contract like that. PErhaps you weren't suggesting signing Soriano long term, and if so, I apologize, but the things I mentioned about Soriano would be worth mentioning regardless. :)
