Molina (starting catcher) for a mediocre middle reliever.

I have to respectfully disagree. Ray is not a "mediocre" middle reliever. Looking at WHIP (1.26), he slots in after Romo & Mota, and before everybody else. Romo & Mota are the best, most reliable relievers we have this year. He is supposed to have a great power sinker - and remember that he has been pitching in that band-box the Rangers play in. I expect him to do even better in SF. Ray was the closer for the Orioles several years ago : 49 saves. (Yes, "saves" is a horrible stand-alone stat - HORRIBLE. But he has late-game experience and didn't flail.) Ray could be an extra set-up man, or a closer in those situations when Wilson has gone several straight. Ray also had tommy john surgery in late 07; I expect him to be even better next year (it generally takes a year or two to fully recover from surgery. Remember Joe Nathan?)

I'm with the trade, and shocked that we got anything worthwhile back for a catcher who hasn't been hitting at all since April and is mired in one of the worst slumps of his career. We not only got TWO years of what should be a GOOD reliever (not "mediocre"), we also will get a minor leaguer at some point in the future.
