Oh, man... and I was in such a good mood.

Did conservatives learn to do math differently in school?

Take her salary, adjust it for 4 months vacation per year, and compare it to the highest new grad salaries of ANYONE (which is engineers in the oil patch). She was about equal to those highest salaries. That puts her in about the top 1% of new grad salaries.

Where do you get FOUR months of vacation?

Being paid in the top 1% hardly qualfies as UNDERPAID.

What school district pays $60,000 for first year teachers?

I dont think we considered her short commute (she is working in the suburbs).

Thank God she can afford to live safely in the school district that pays her.

I dont think we considered her short day (she's not the type to take work home).

Then she's lazy and she's in the wrong profession.

Quote:
I dont think we considered her having to buy school supplies out of her pocket (she's not that type).

La-dee-da. That's something to be proud of for sure.

I dont think we considered her being beaten by students (she's in the suburbs).

Did you consider her being beaten by the parents?

Loyalfan, I don't think your friend is going to survive in the world of education.

And you have no idea what goes into planning lessons, correcting papers, maintaining a classroom, dealing with parents, dealing with administration, attending faculty meetings, attending curriculum meetings, participating in grading standardized tests, making it to an occasional athletic event or performance, and so on. I'm a math teacher so my time spent on grading isn't near an English teacher's.

But, you know what you SURELY don't have a clue about is the heartache. I care for my kids so intensely that there are times when I cry during my ride home because I have a sad child in my classroom.

I can't wait to read what Woody has to say about your list.
