Hey Woody-

Sounds like you're at Crossroads High in Concord, or La Paloma in Brentwood.

I'm still having a hard time figuring out just how California schools can be so broke. Education should be a priority in the state budget, there's the Lottery, all of the bonds that have been issued, and yet they're cutting sports, libraries, and many extracurricular but essential services.

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but it seems to me that a lot of the wealthier areas are doing better, while the districts that are doing the cutting are in the poorer neighborhoods- at least in the East Bay. I know that kids in Berkeley and Albany have brand new school structures at the elementary, middle, and high school level, while the schools in Oakland and Richmond are falling apart and are on a shoestring budget.

But I still can't see how a state that is as rich as ours (even after helping to fund the PG&E fiasco) can be in such poor shape when it comes to education.
