Hey All,

In the aftermath of this trade, Morgan Ensberg has been benched, and Jason Lane has been sent back to AAA.

Both these players are having disappointing seasons....

Ensberg .236 (.272 career) .390 (.370 career) .500 (.494 career) 19 HR (1 per 19 ABs career) and 44 RBI.

Lane .205 (.256 career) .330 (.328 career) .393 (.481 career) 11 HR (1 per 20 ABs career) and 30 RBI.

Both are young, Ensberg is an excellent defensive 3B, while Lane is a lot like Todd Linden in the OF...just as likely to boof a play as to shine.

Ensberg is signed to a $3.8M deal, and will be arbitration eligible, while Lane is under team control, making $450K.

With the Astros desperate for offense, I wonder if they would be open to trading these two guys for a package of Pedro Feliz (who has always KILLED at Minute Maid), Todd Linden (who definitely could benefit from moving to a system that has a history of developing position players), and a pitcher like Brian Wilson (Houston loves hard throwing relievers).

I really like Ensberg, and Lane would give the Giants a young starting OF option for 2007. If the club acquires a player who can push him to the bench as a 4th or 5th OF in the off-season, great.

What does anyone else think?
