I think Kruk & Kuip's reaction to Robinson is very simple. Both men played for Robinson when he was a manager for the Giants. Krukow for 2 years......Kuiper for 3. As I recall.....Kuiper also played for him in Cleveland in the mid-70's. I don't know if he was a jerk........but Robinson was inarguably the toughest manager in San Francisco Giants history. He ruled with an iron fist. I hear he softened considerably by the time he was with the Expos/Nationals.....but when he was with the Giants, he ruled by intimidation & fines. Kruk has talked many times about him fining players for walks.......3 ball popups.......missing the cutoff man......you name it. If a pitcher threw a 4 pitch walk (as ours seem to do 4 or 5 times a game) or made a stupid mistake of any kind......it was not unusual for Robinson to go to the mound and chew his butt out right in front of god and everyone.

I don't know whether they like Robinson or not. But it's hard to shake old feelings. I have no doubt they are still a little intimidated by Frank......even though he is 72 now he still has an imposing presence. I doubt very seriously it has anything to do with what Robinson may have said about Bonds.

I do know one thing though....if the Bonds of 2007 was managed by the Robinson of 1983.....the clash of egos would be monumental. Someone would get hurt.....and as tough as Frank was.......it would probably be Barry.
