Not many have a Eyre-Hawkins-Benitez type combo to send out for the 7th 8th and 9th. Problem is Alou doesn't let them go out there an own an inning. One baserunner with a 4 run lead doen't warrant yanking Hawk out....

You know I agree....and the thing that is really frustrating is that 'ol Cream Of Wheat can't seem to remember what he said only 48 hours ago, much less do it in a ballgame.

From Rotowire:

Quote:
Aug. 17 News: Walker is about to get some rest as closer, possibly in favor of LaTroy Hawkins, says his manager. Spin: "I would like to give [Tyler] Walker the day off," manager Felipe Alou said before Wednesday's game, according to the Giants' official site. "[Armando] Benitez has to pitch now. Any opportunity he can pitch, he'll pitch. He's getting to the point where he'll just walk out of the bullpen on his own." Alou also said that Benitez would begin action as a set-up man, rather than a closer. Walker will likely remain in contention for saves in the short-term, but if Benitez is healthy, and Hawkins does well, Walker could soon be a middle reliever.

So let's see....Walker is the closer. No, wait....Hawkins is the closer, and we'll use Benitez as the set-up guy. No....Walker is the closer again, and we'll use Hawkins as the set-up guy. Wait....Benitez should come out for the ninth inning....what about Eyre? Who's on first? What day is it? Is it a day game? Who is pitching the eighth inning again? Who is Accardo, and what have you done with Felix Rodriguez?

How about Eyre, Hawkins, and Benitez in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Munter gets ground balls, and Walker comes in if you need a strikeout. Even someone with Cream Of Wheat for brains should be able to figure that out.
