I remember him saying early in the season that the World Baseball Classic really helped get him ready offensively for the start of the season--my guess is it carried him through the whole year as he had a pretty remarkable season, not just for a man of his age.

This is more in line of what I expected from a 40+ year old, punch and judy kind of shortstop, as much as that pains me to think.

Then again, it may be a blessing...
if he's toward the bottom of the lineup he may be batting around guys like Ortmeier, Lewis and Frandsen. It's easy to overlook that these 3 are NOT OBP slouches--they're finding ways on base one way or another in their short time up in the bigs.
If Omar could get hot, he could turn the bottom of the lineup into a threat with aggressive guys that'll go 1st to 3rd on quite a few singles.
