Not a bad first outing. Going to have to work in an offspeed pitch into his game. Didn't look very comfortable pitching out of the stretch (probably because he didn't have to pitch out of the stretch much at Fresno). Going to have to work on his pickoff move and shorten his stride to the plate (again, not much running at Fresno since he didn't allow any down there).

Could use some more seasoning. Big thing from Billy Beane and Moneyball was that he would rather have pitchers that have experienced some failure, rather than a pitcher that dominates. This gives the pitcher more experience in keeping runners on base, pitching out of the stretch and backing up positions.

But all in all, no way he could live up to the hype, but decent performance. Something to build on. :thumbsup
